The world's largest producer of aluminothermic chrome metal has
published the results of its activities for 2004. According to the plant's
General Director, the production of chrome metal for this period
amounted to 9,800 tonnes. Approximately 60% of this product was
exported by the plant and was handled by its trade representative
RAZNOIMPORT Trading GmbH/Germany. The remaining product was
incorporated into the programme to replenish the Russian state stockpile
as well as being supplied to internal market consumers.
Initially a supplier of raw materials to various branches of metallurgical
industry, this year the plant has started to produce and supply its clients
with semifinished and finished products. Last year special attention at
the plant was given to the expansion of the range of materials produced,
including setting up the technology for producing chrome metal powder
of various grades as well as chrome-aluminium tablets.
The plant looks forward to 2005 with optimism. Further increases in
production volumes of chrome and its products are planned. Plant
capacities allow up to 15,000 tonnes of chrome metal to be produced per
year. In the coming year the long-term programme of replenishment of
the Russian state stockpile will be continued; according to the available
data it will amount to supplying approximately 3,000 tonnes. Further
increases in Kluchevsky Ferroalloy Plant's share of the world market is
